FAQ's
How long is a therapy session?
Sessions are usually between 50 and 60 minutes long. It is important that sessions start and end on time to allow for the next session to take place.
How often will I need to attend sessions?
Initially sessions could take place weekly, depending on your needs. However, this is discussed and agreed with you during your first session, and can take place at intervals that you are comfortable with.
How much is a session?
Sessions are charged at £130 per session for individuals, and couples are charged at £180 per session.
Why do you charge more than psychotherapists and counsellors?
My fees are based on my extensive years of academic and practical training as well as my experience. As a psychologist, I have spent a decade learning, experiencing and developing my skills. This makes me a specialist in my field, where I am trained to be able to diagnose, assess and treat all serious mental health issues both in a hospital setting and in a practice. To use the title of Psychologist I have to be registered with the HCPC as this is a protected title. The HCPC is the regulatory body that governs all professional aspects of healthcare professionals, and holds us to a very high standard to be able to practice. Psychotherapists and Counsellors are valuable colleagues in the mental health field. However their level of training and experience would not have been at such an intense level. They are trained to work with clients who don’t have serious mental health issues but do require counselling to feel better. Thus our fees reflect this level of experience.
Are you covered by medical insurance?
At present, Salisbury Psychology is only covered by AXA and Vitality. However, this may change in the near future as we negotiate contracts with other companies. Therefore, sessions are currently self-funded for anyone who is not registered with medical insurance. Please note that all approvals for medical insurance payments must be managed by the client as we cannot take responsibility for this.
How much time to I have to cancel or postpone a session before I am charged?
Sessions that are not cancelled or rescheduled without reason, within 24 hours, will be charged for. Cancelling or rescheduling your appointment early will allow that session to become open to someone else who may need to schedule therapy time.
What is the best way to contact Salisbury Psychology?
The best way to contact the practice is either via email or WhatsApp. All messages will be responded to timeously and during working hours.
What should I do if I need to see someone out of working hours?
If it is an emergency, or you or your loved ones are concerned about your safety, you should immediately go to your nearest A&E for help outside of working hours. During working hours you are welcome to contact the practice. However, due to the nature of the services, your message may not be seen immediately. However, every effort will be made to get back to you as soon as possible.
