About
I am a qualified clinical psychologist and I’m registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (PYL039976). I have experience working as part of multi-disciplinary teams in large psychiatric units, as well as running my own practice. I treat adults who are experiencing psychological distress.
I am trained to work with many different issues across the lifespan. However, my specialism is working with adults who have experienced emotional and psychological abuse either in intimate relationships, or with family, friends or work colleagues.
I work from a systemic paradigm which sees the person in context. I am highly skilled at working interactionally, and have a person-centred approach. I have been trained to level III in Interactional Pattern Analysis (Cave, 2020; Vorster, 2014), which is a tool that helps with understanding an individual’s unique interactional patterns and assists with formulating a solution to each person. I also work with a brain-based technique called Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT®) which is a unique therapeutic intervention for trauma, anxiety, grief and many more issues. I believe that although we can talk about trauma, it ultimately needs to be resolved at both a neurological and physical level.
I was born in South Africa and grew up in Johannesburg. I moved to the UK when I was in my twenties and spent many years working in London in advertising working on some of the biggest national brands. I moved back to South Africa where I completed my training in clinical psychology.
Whilst there, I worked at the both the largest psychiatric hospital in South Africa, Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria; as well as the largest public hospital in the Southern Hemisphere, Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto. My work centred around severe psychological disorders as part of a multi-disciplinary team working with both adults and children in inpatient and outpatient settings. I also ran my own private practice prior to moving to the UK.
I currently live in Salisbury, Wiltshire, where I run my practice from. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and I am passionate about creating a healthy work/life balance.
